Bobby Chappell

Bobby Chappell is from Fredericksburg Va. He is one of the founding members and drummer of the Bluefield WV based Grunge/Hardrock band MoonScar.

He began playing drums around 1989 with the influences of Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden and John Bonham of Led Zepplin. With his years in the drum line in the marching band came more progressive and rudimental drumming. Playing in several local Bluefield Va bands(several along side current guitarist, Chris Holston), he established himself in the local music scene.

In 1993, Chappell moved to a thriving music scene in Knoxville Tn and began his true,”formative” years behind the kit. Playing with heavy metal band Shape Cell and touring for several years with Matt Woods Plan A, where he was sponsored by custom drum company, Jackson Custom Drums. Taking a leap of faith he 2005, he moved to NYC to join Lot 16 where they enjoyed mild success in a massive, fast paced city scene. Playing the likes of CBGBs, Arlene’s Grocery, Webster Hall and many other historic NYC venues.

Years later, in 2014, Chappell moved back to small town Virginia, had a child and not being active for years, reconnected with Chris Holston,     to jam on Sundays and relieve weekly stresses. It turn into a full blown band with the addition of bass mathematician Tommy McCoy and rythum guitar and vocals from Frank “Spike” Roop. They now focus on creating and bringing back a genre of music that influenced them in the 90s with MoonScar.
